SANTARÉM
The Santarém Region holds an important geostrategic position, which is fundamentally due to its central local concerning the main nation communication routes – road and rail – and proximity to the capital. This important feature, combined and enhanced by an effective capacity for articulation on all axes, and the connection to the neighboring country, as well as to important national infrastructures such as the port of Lisbon, Figueira da Foz and Sines, and Portela airport (Lisbon), turn the Region into a high potential logistics point.

It is a Region with a strong territorial identity, with unique uses and costumes associated with the countryside and its heritage, cultural (for example, related do Avian Culture or Gastronomy) and religious (related to Fátima, Convento de Cristo and several Jewish elements, amongst others), which is rich and diverse. This identity is leveraged by its imposing natural heritage (especially Serras de Aire e Candeeiros, Castelo de Bode Reservoir, Paul do Boquilobo Natural Reserve, or the Tagus Estuary) and the richness of the landscapes with diverse morphologies throughout the territory, which sets the Santarém Region to be an attractive space for different visitors.
